Since I was a young girl, I have felt compelled to document my surroundings. When I was three or four years old, you could find me with a toy camera “capturing” moments in my life. My focus turned to film portraiture when I was in high school. I can still remember the long hours spent in my school’s darkroom, developing roll after roll of portraits I took, trying to capture the essence of whoever I encountered–even strangers. From very early on, I was intent on documenting people and their emotions.

The depth and range of the human spirit fascinated me then, as it does now. I love how so much feeling can be conveyed in a nuanced look in someone’s eyes or a small gesture. With that in mind, I work constantly to perfect my craft. I want to capture those emotions with as much clarity and meaning as possible.

I am supported in my art by my lifelong study of the craft of photography. While many people express their concerns about being camera shy, I assure them, and you, that capturing flattering images is all part of the work of a skilled photographer. Lighting, composition, angles, camera settings—I make sure all of these elements are joined harmoniously to capture my clients’ personality.
